Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed the officials of the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) to extend the operational hours of the Pune Metro rail service until midnight for the final seven days of the Ganesh festival, aiming to facilitate devotees’ visits to pandals. Currently, the metro operates from 6 am to 10 pm daily.
This decision was made during a review meeting with Maha-Metro, where Deputy Chief Minister Pawar and Pune District Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil were present. Hemant Sonawane, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Maha-Metro, confirmed the decision, stating, “Following the ministers’ instructions, the metro rail service will be available from September 22 to September 27, running from 6 am to midnight, and from 6 am to 2 pm on September 28.”
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar emphasized, “I have instructed Maha-Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar to take necessary measures to extend the metro rail service until midnight during the Ganesh festival.” Earlier, Maha-Metro had already extended the service hours from 7 am to 6 pm to facilitate commuters boarding the Deccan Queen Express.
